Spring Updates

  • Brine Twice Daily, my latest collaboration with Vicky Langan, is in the final stages of post-production. This 20-minute short will premiere in Berlin this July. Watch this space for further details.
  • The feature Cloud of Skin is now at picture-lock. Karen Power is starting work on the other 50% of the film: the sound.
  • Scorpion's Stone, a long-term feature project, is underway. This will be completed in 2016 and will, in form, emulate a night's sleep.

Chimes at Triskel

Cork's Triskel Christchurch Cinema have asked me to introduce an upcoming screening of Chimes at Midnight this May 30th to mark the centenary of Orson Welles. Perhaps, in the absence of Mr Welles himself or, for that matter, of Jack Falstaff, they needed a fat man with a beard to officiate and I was the nearest to hand. Or maybe it had something to do with this recent piece I wrote about Welles. In any case, it's going to be a splendid event - the chance of seeing this newly restored masterpiece on the big screen is not to be missed!

Abel Ferrara, by far the greatest American narrative filmmaker of our time, is seeking funding for a new film starring Willem Dafoe. I urge anyone who possibly can to please contribute.
