Slipping Into the Tank

Last Friday, as part of the Soundtank event at the IndieCork Festival, Habits of a Lifetime was screened at The Crane Lane with live sound by The Quiet Club. This was a last minute surprise addition to the event, which also included The Quiet Club accompanying a scheduled screening of a new work by Maciek and Patricia Klich. And the evening was rounded out with a typically propulsive set by the excellent Woven Skull.

A big thank you to Mick and Danny for inviting me to join the fun- and for providing such an appropriately chilling and atmopsheric accompaniment to the forlorn imagery of Habits.

Experimental Conversations 13 Online

Issue 13 of Experimental Conversations is now online.

13, eh...? As far as we can tell, this will be the final issue of Cork Film Centre's online magazine of experimental film, video art and art cinema, which I've edited since it first appeared in 2008. Ruminations on this state of affairs and, more importantly, 'thank yous' to many wonderful people connected with the magazine can be found in my editorial here.

The magazine has been plagued by technical problems in recent months and has been, to all intents and purposes, a dead, broken thing since suffering a major hack. It is now fully fixed and revived for all to enjoy not only the new issue but an archive of what now amounts to a full six years of writing.

Or, as Groucho put it, "Hello, I must be going!"

But we're giving the project quite a send off, with texts by many of the wonderful writers who have defined Experimental Conversations over the years: Esperanza Collado, Tony McKibbin, Gianluca Pulsoni, Chris O'Neill, David Brancaleone, Donal Foreman, Phillina Sun, and the project's spiritual godfather, Fergus Daly.
