STILL DAYS Trailer

Shooting on Still Days, an experimental feature starring John McCarthy, Ailish Claffey and Sara Jane Power, is finally about to kick off. It'll be shot piecemeal over the next few months.

A 'teaser' trailer can be seen here:

TENEBROUS CITY AND ILL-LIGHTED MORTALS

Rouzbeh Rashidi has completed a haunting and mysterious new 65-minute film called Tenebrous City and Ill-Lighted Mortals. Approximately two-thirds of it is constructed from unused footage that I shot with Ed Malone for ...And The Poor Bird Died back in 2008. I'm honoured and delighted that Rouzbeh chose to work with these tapes. He has at once understood perfectly the essence of the images and performances, and made it something completely his own. His use of still images is especially powerful in this film.

Senses of Cinema

Bill Mousoulis' review of last year's Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Senses of Cinema contains a few favourable words on both of my two films that played in it:

This isn't the only mention I've had in recent editions of that prominent online film journal. Gianluca Pulsoni talked about the (An)Other Irish Cinema screening at the Lucca Film Festival last year in his review of it:

And, nicest of all, Fergus Daly cited Light/Sound on his favourite films of the year list as part of the 2010 Senses of Cinema end of year poll:
