Raoul Ruiz 1941-2011

It's impossible to overestimate what Ruiz's films have meant to me, the extent of their influence on me as a filmmaker and a human being... Second to none. They are with me always, reflected in the world around me always.

It's equally impossible to believe that Ruiz, of all people, can be consigned to a category as closed and definitive as 'death'...

And, yet, the world is so much poorer now, so much poorer...
